Photo A Day #7 Frou Frou

Just a nice simple abstract image of my purple frouffy skirt :) I just arrived home after my ballet class, and I feel great! Aside from the good feelings from exercising, I feel like I achieved a level of understanding with my body today, and the ballet suddenly became much more natural and easy. Isn't it great when you practice something and then it just 'clicks'? There's still the next level to aim for, but I'm going to enjoy this feeling for a moment. Have any of you guys been lucky enough to have something start coming together this week? x

Photo A Day #6 Me at Three

This photo was taken of me when I was three years old. My Dad's best friend worked up in the Northern Territory with the National Park Service as well as working alongside the local indigenous people. The young girls in the picture came to visit my parents with him, all the way from the Northern Territory. (That's about 4000km away, or 2,500 miles - that's a really, really long way away when you're three) I was thrilled to meet my new friends and have a distinct memory of this moment actually happening, not just from the photo. Check out those cute dresses! And my awesome T-Shirt!! And that 70's couch! The wood paneling! LOVE. x

Watch/ed

There is some kind of nostalgia in the air. In the past couple of weeks, I've watched Midnight Cowboy, Thelma And Louise and The Goonies. I woke up with Harry Nilsson's "Everybody's Talkin'" in my head this morning. And now I have an irresistible urge to watch Harold And Maude again. It's one of my absolute favourite films. Bud Cort and Ruth Gordon are both adorable in it. I hope that when I'm 79 years old that I'm at least half as cool as Maude.

Photo A Day #5 The Wigwam

The Wigwam. This is my favourite building on the main street of the town where I live. I'm not sure why it is called The Wigwam, or exactly how long it has been there. Definitely since the 70's. It has somehow survived the modernisation of the town centre, I think because nobody looks up. I'll get a pic of this one during the day as well, I think it will look amazing with a nice blue sky behind. The only connection I can find with wigwams other than the sign is a portrait of Pocahontas on the glass door of the building, which used to house an extremely stuffy used book store upstairs. It was one of those book stores that felt like you may be buried alive by a pile of Quartos and nobody would notice your absence, or any disturbance amidst the chaos of magazines, textbooks and the occasional gem. Pocahontas and the book store are both gone now. I'm glad The Wigwam sign is still intact, the font is incredible! xo

Photo A Day #4 Mossy

Insight Fleur Legging /*/ Urban Outfitters
Shoes  /*/ Thrifted from Portland, Maine on my great East Coast Adventure last year

I know what you're thinking, a feet photo... Well, let me say, these aren't just any feet. These feet had their first EVER pedicure on the weekend, so I thought I ought to show them off. I love the fuzzy moss that grows between the bricks in my yard, it's so soft and green, it's great when nature reclaims man(and lady)-made environments.

Kitty and Buck update

Well, it's the weekend and I have a lot of work to do on Kitty & Buck, there will be some updates to the design and layout over the coming days/weeks as I get it all organised. I have done a little about page, so take a look, and meet the kitties and me... and I'll introduce you to the rest of the family soon. I have a delivery of vintage fabric arriving in the next few days, and just did a bit of a supplies top-up today, so I'll be busy making some bits, which I'll share next week! The second half of my weekend is action-packed with sewing, painting and shooting some stop-motion sequences for a graphics package I'm doing for a documentary on people who collect things... Not that I'd know anything about that ;) Don't forget to check the about page here and feel free to tell me stuff below. x

Photo A Day #3 Minature Garden

We've had a very rainy summer in Sydney, which is so lovely, but there has not been much outdoor time. The past week has finally shown us some summer weather, and one of my favourite things is lying outside on the mossy bricks, surrounded by my cats. They bask in the sunshine and give me 'happy eyes' which is the cutest thing ever! x

Photo A Day #2 Tippy-Toes

I like the softness of this picture compared to the hard work that these shoes have seen. When I was three years old I decided I wanted to be a ballerina and it took several years of playing dress up to a generic 'classical music' cassette to convince my parents that I was serious about wanting to begin ballet classes at the local scout hall. I went through the examinations until I qualified as a dance teacher (while attending school, university and working) and eventually ran the school for a short time, with some fellow students, when our teacher retired. This year I started ballet again, and even found a new friend to come along! It's not at all like riding a bike, my brain knows what to do but my muscles seem to have forgotten. I enjoy the challenge and dancing ballet makes me feel more alive! I knew what was good for me, even at the age of three :) These are my shoes from my last 'real' performance.

Photo A Day #1 In the Mirror

I am in love with my new wallpaper and antique mirror! My first goal is to take at least one picture a day, nothing fancy, just a snapshot of time. Enjoy. x
